許多的日本名牌牛肉當中，位於其頂點的即為松阪牛。
特別是在兵庫縣但馬、淡路地區所產，以900天以上養大的黑毛母和牛，被冠以「特產松阪牛」此一特別的稱呼。
於每年11月所召開的評鑑會「松阪肉牛評選會」上，2015年參賽了50頭肥美牛隻。
而經過2小時的評鑑之後，由飼養天數1007天，體重686公斤的「桃宮號」奪下了第66代女王的榮冠。
